Bringing Halal Gastro-tourism to The World at FoodTreX Global Summit
In April 2021, chef and halal culinary expert Yvonne Maffei (My Halal Kitchen) and Soumaya Hamdi (Halal Travel Guide) received an invitation to speak at FoodTrex Global Summit. It is the World Food Travel Association’s (WFTA) organization that holds the event. In addition, the founder, Erik Wolf, hosted the summit. During the talk, Yvonne and Soumaya shared their expertise in halal food and halal tourism with gastronomy and travel & tourism stakeholders worldwide.
About The World Food Travel Association (WFTA)
The WFTA is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 by Erik Wolf, its current Executive Director. It is recognized as the worldโs leading food and beverage tourism (a.k.a. culinary tourism and gastronomy tourism). Additionally, The WFTAโs mission is to preserve and promote culinary cultures through hospitality and tourism. Also, the organization provides professional programs and services to nearly 200,000 professionals in 150+ countries every year.
‘Demystifying the Muslim Food-Loving Traveler’
Yvonne and Soumaya presented a practical, accessible route for travel and tourism stakeholders. This presentation helped the stakeholders better understand the requirements and desires of Muslim travellers. Besides, Yvonne and Soumaya also explained how best to attract this growing niche market.
Unfortunately, the recording of this event isn’t available to the general public. However, Erik Wolf subsequently invited Yvonne Maffei and Soumaya Hamdi to appear on his TV Show, ‘Food Travel Talk TV’. On this show, they will discuss more on travelling around the world on a halal diet.
Above all, if you’re a travel and tourism stakeholder interested in learning more about how to access the Muslim travel market, you can watch the full show for free below.
